Top: Old news: November 1999
- Napster - Thanks to Freshmeat i (finally) discovered
Napster earlier this week and found lots
of music i've been looking for for a long time. When you log into one of their
servers, you basically add your mp3's to a worldwide database and share them with
other Napster users. I bet the music industry loves this concept!
- Weblog Monitor - Dave Winer's new Weblog Monitor offers the most extensive
stats on weblogs.
- Toystory 2 - Harry reviews Toy Story 2. He quite likes it.
- The other Office 2000 - Office
2000 is 100% guaranteed to be Year 2000 Compliant. (Strange Brew)
- Basement Jaxx - Yesterday i went to see the Basement Jaxx in the Paradiso in
Amsterdam. I wasn't too familiair with their music, but i was very impressed with
the mix of old house, p-funk, disco, latin, etc. that they played. And so was
everyone else present at this gig. Check them out if they're in your area.
- Parallel universes - From science fiction to fact? (Slashdot.org)
- Hello, i'm chello - Today i got a cable-modem and so far there
haven't been any problems yet. Getting
it to work under Linux was quite easy as
well.
- Expo 2000 - Yes, it really says december 6 is the release date of a new Kraftwerk
CD Single. I almost can't believe my eyes. I can't link to it directly, so to
find the information, search on the title "Expo 2000". I presume it's a
longer version of the jingle they composed for the Expo 2000 in Germany.
- The Sounds of Science - Creating your own Beastie Boys
compilation on Musicmaker.com is very cool,
but i really miss tracks like She's On It, Rock Hard and the Beasties' cover of
the Beatles' I'm Down. (alt0169)
- More Matrices - There's some news on the
sequels to The Matrix, the best
movie of 1999 (in my humble opinion of course), on scifi.ign.com. (Slashdot.org)
- Micro Modular - So, yesterday i got myself a nice little red box with huge possibilities. I'm totally amazed with what this
tiny machine is capable of. Thousands of patches for the Modular can be found online too.
