Top: Old news: April 2000
- 5k Award - Tomorrow the winners of the 5k award will be announced. Some
entries are truly amazing, like this one: Terti5. Or this one.
- YOPI Linux PDA - Yes, the YOPI really is a very cool multimedia toy to carry around. No pricing info to be
found anywhere yet tho.
- Cryptonomicon - I finally got Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon yesterday. It looks like this book might keep me busy for a while
with its 900+ pages. If it's as good as Snow Crash this shouldn't be a problem.
- Ghost Dog - GettingIt had a conversation
with New York film maker Jim Jarmusch about his latest movie "Ghost
Dog".
- The Wizard - Went to see Jeff Mills in the Melkweg yesterday. He delivered a great set, but
the highlight for me was Jeff spinning Jaguar. Local DJ Estroe was a very nice surprise.
- Linkage - Again life prevented me from updating this site for a week. Today i gave it a
little facelift, i hope you like it. I haven't tested it in IE yet, so i hope
everything looks right.
- TP - Tonight i'm going to Germany with some friends to celebrate Terrence Parker's birthday. Should be a great
party!
- Blast from the past - The Webmuseum was last updated
almost 4 years ago. In web years that's about 400 years ago. Still it's worth
browsing through a site that received the Best Use of Multiple Media Award in the
Internet Best of Web '94 contest.
- Fokke & Sukke - Non-Dutch speaking visitors, meet Fokke &
Sukke in German, English or French.
- Mozilla M15 - M15 is among us! It seems to render pages faster and the UI has been cleaned up
somewhat. You can get it here.
- Detroit Electronic Music Festival - I really want to go back to Detroit again in may! This festival will be
extremely interesting for people into Detroit techno.
- Deepleap - Last friday Deepleap was launched.
Deepleap is a kind of online notebook, independent of location and operating system
(sort of). A more comprehensive explantion can be found here. It is a pretty cool application, but
i'm not sure yet if i will use it often or not.
- Gratis, legal und qualitativ wertvoll - My band TV-99-AD is mentioned in this German
article on legal MP3's in Telepolis magazine. Try Babelfish for an
English translation.
- BSOD - Tonight i felt so windows, i crashed in front of the TV set.
- BeOS 5 Pro in Europe - BeOS 5 Pro will finally be available in European shops on may 15. BeNews has a review
of the features in the Pro Edition not included in the free Personal Edition.
- Rest - Thanks to Shizm.com i finally found out that an
amazing piece of music i've been searching for for a while, is "Beau Mot
Plage" by Isolée. Coincidentally, his debut album, "Rest", will be
released next monday on Playhouse! (scroll down for English text).
- The web economy bullshit generator - An inventive way to reinvent
synergistic e-commerce from Dack.com.
- White African king - We have a new king: Togbe Korsi Ferdinand
Gakpector II!
- File sharing - Just about a year ago the first version of Napster was released and now it seems sharing files is the major new
development stirring things up on the Internet. Today the Gnutella portal opened its doors and Slashdot has an interview with Ian Clarke of Freenet, who released their first beta this weekend. It'll be very
interesting to see how this all develops in the next year.
- Webcam - A while ago i got a webcam, but
yesterday i finally made a page for it.
- Pole interview - A new Pole
album, imaginatively titled "Pole 3", will be out soon. Dotmusic has an interview with Stefan
Betke.
- Old Linkage - Today i revamped the archive of this site. It's not a long list anymore, but
everything is nicely sorted by date in directories. I'll also check all the links
soon because i noticed there's quite a bit of link rot.
- Let's make Sandwiches - When i was in Detroit last
december, the big hit over there was "Sandwiches"; a silly, but
irresistable minimal techno track by the Detroit Grand Pubas. Here is a Realvideo clip of a live PA they did. Recently the Pubas signed a major recorddeal, so
don't be surprised if you hear more about them soon. Remember where you heard it
first!
- Sulzilla - Hopefully you were able to download the preview release of Netscape 6 last week.
Although it is a bit slow on my PC, i've used it quite a bit already and i am very
impressed. If you don't like the default look, check out Cam's skin called Sullivan. You can see it in action here.
- A long, long time ago... - I used to add entries to this page. Other things got in the way so i wasn't
really inspired to continue with it for some time. But let's try to bring this thing back to life again.
